When I was pregnant with him, as any expectant mum does, I went shopping looking for baby items - mainly blankets in neutral colours. This was because we didn't want to find out the sex of the baby.
But to my surprise almost everything was either blue or pink. There were also some whites, but I just didn’t like the limited choices. After a few trips to the shops I decided that for my baby, I'd make everything I could, and just the way I wanted them.
When my son was only few months old I made few personalised blankets (all hand embroidered) for my friends’ babies. After seeing my work one of my friends suggested I start up a business. So, I created a page on Facebook in November 2013. My little man was 8months old by then. The name for the business and the logo was already waiting for me.
Tiny Tootties is what my partner used to refer to Tristan’s little toes. Whenever my partner, Colin, was with Tristan, he'd always touch our son’s feet and say “Tiny Tootties, Tiny Tootties” So, that became the name of my business and Tristan’s actual footprints were used as the logo. I added ‘collection’ to the business name as I was making variety of items as ordered by customers.
I received my first cake smash outfit order in March 2014. That’s the first time I'd ever heard of ‘Cake Smash’…! I had no idea what Cake Smash was, so called on Mr. Google to find out more…!!
With that order my business took a whole new path.
Tiny Tootties Collection is now well known for ‘Specialised in custom made Cake Smash Outfits’ and also for my Personalised Luxurious Minky Blankets.
Within a year of start up, TTC grew from one basic sewing machine to an overlocker and embroidery machine - from the far end of the dining table to the whole table. The linen cupboard, lounge room, family room, part of Tristan’s wardrobe & the garage were taken over by boxes and boxes of fabric, haberdashery and the like.
The most rewarding part of running TTC is when I receive photos of cute babies, in their outfits or with whatever the item their mummies bought for them from TTC.
I've always loved babies and I just love seeing them in TTC. That’s our best form of feedback, so please do share a picture or two with me if you're happy with my work.
I take pride in what I do. Rest assured each and every item is crafted with care and love…as if they were being made for my own child.
I hope you liked reading our story and that you enjoy your shopping experience at TTC.
If you need something more personalised, please send me an email or call and I'll do my best to get you what you want.
Have a Great day
